Usha Uthup is awarded the Padma Bhushan this year. The singer told NDTV, “You must understand from my voice how elated I am. I am still having the hangover of this joy.”
Usha also said that she felt grateful. “Thanks to you, my country, for honoring me. She also thanked her parents, family, co-artists, and her audience,” she said. She further said that her achievement was owing to them. “I am nothing without my folks,” the musician added.

Usha looked back at her career, “I started as a nightclub singer. I am proud of that. All my songs have God’s names, like Hare Ram Hare Krishna, Hari Om Hari, etc.”

Three Bengalis are getting Padma Bhushan this year. One of them is getting it posthumously. Mithun Chakraborty gets it for acting and Usha Uthup gets it for singing. Satyabrata Mukherjee is posthumously getting the award for public affairs.
