While his acting career continued to gain traction over the years, his ardent fans have only wished to see him don the director’s hat again and again – his most recent directorial came about seven years ago with Uppi 2. The upcoming film UI will be Upendra’s eleventh film as a director and he also completes three decades in the industry, having made his directorial debut in 1992 with Tharle Nan Maga.
UI has been produced by the combination of K.P. Sreekanth of G. Manoharan of Lahari Music. The concept of the poster film released a few weeks ago, boasted of many cryptic elements are true to Upendra’s style and nature of work but when the actor-director was quizzed about the film’s storyline at the muhurtha event, he remained tight-lipped and assured the media that he is 100% honest to his craft and will not let his fans down at any cost. Upendra also shared that he had conceived UI almost 15-20 years ago and the film has gradually evolved to its present form.
On the acting front, Upendra has multiple films lined up for release including the promising pan-India project Kabzaa. He also has Thrishulam, Lagaamu, and Buddhivanta 2 slated for release and is likely to announce more acting gigs in the coming days.
