A host of big-budget and concept-driven Telugu films fight it out at the box office this December

After a flurry of small/medium budget releases in November, theatre owners will heave a sigh of relief across Telugu states this December, with three stars confirming the release dates of their films. While Animal’s Telugu version is packing a punch at the ticket window already, several other films with new faces arrived in theatres this week - Atharva, Calling Sahasra, Breathe, to name a few.
However starting next week, there are several promising films that are expect to set the box office on fire. Take a look.
Hi Nanna - December 7
Nani’s father-daughter drama promises to be a safe bet at the box office. From Mrunal Thakur’s presence to Hesham Abdul Wahab’s dreamy album and the relatable premise, it has the ingredients to appeal to audiences across languages.
Extra Ordinary Man - December 8
After a misfire last year, Nithiin will hope to strike form with this light-hearted action comedy, where entertainment is its primary USP. With a solid cast and an experienced writer like Vakkantham Vamsi at the helm, expect a jolly-fun film.
Pindam - December 15
A team of newcomers based in the US are coming together with Pindam, a horror drama that promises to stay true to the genre. The likes of Sriram, Kushee Ravi, Srinivas Avasarala and Easwari Rao too make for a formidable lineup.
Jorugaa Husharugaa - December 15
Buoyed by the success of Baby, Viraj Ashwin tests his fortunes with a romance drama boasting strong performances by Sai Kumar and Rohini as well. Anu Prasad directs the film while Nireesh Thiruveedula is the producer.
Salaar - December 22
Undoubtedly the film of the month, KGF filmmaker Prashanth Neel and Prabhas join hands for an intense action drama revolving around two friends set in a fictitious kingdom Khaansar. A box office storm on the cards - are you ready?
Dunki (dubbed) - December 21
After delivering two monstrous hits Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan would hope to sign off in 2023 on a high with the Raj Kumar Hirani-directed Dunki. The Telugu version is expected to start well at the ticket window.
Bubblegum - December 29
Ravikanth Perepu, the filmmaker behind impressive films like Kshanam and Krishna and his Leela, will launch anchor Suma’s son Roshan Kanakala as the lead actor with the action-romance. Maanasa Choudhary is the female lead.
