Malayalam movie Marco is truly travelling. After winning over audiences in Kerala last month, and now creating new box-office records with its Hindi, Telugu and upcoming Tamil versions, the Unni Mukundan-starrer is set to topple SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2’s record in South Korea.

According to the makers of the Malayalam film, Marco will be releasing in 100+ screens in South Korea, as opposed to 24 screens of Baahubali 2 in 2017. They also claim that this is the biggest release for any Indian movie in South Korea.

Marco’s Korean distribution rights sold

Marco’s Korean distribution rights were bought by Noori Pictures from South Korea, which is planning to release the movie “soon”, according to the film’s team. Incidentally, fans believe that the genre of Marco could very well appeal to the audience in South Korea, which is not averse to making violent action films.

The Unni Mukundan film recently became the only Indian action film to receive an R21 or restricted 21 rating in Singapore.

Marco sets new record for Malayalam film in Telugu States

Meanwhile, closer to home, Marco might not break any records set by Baahubali 2 soon, but the movie did get off to a brilliant start in the Telugu States, after the release of its Telugu-dubbed version on January 1, 2025.

The movie grossed close to Rs 1.75 Cr, according to makers, while industry trackers put this figure closer to Rs 1.1 Cr. Either way, it’s the highest single-day gross for a Telugu version of a Malayalam movie. A few days earlier, Marco also set the same record for its Hindi version.

Marco has already earned a total of Rs 42 Cr from the Indian box office, and is on track to earn Rs 50 Cr from India and Rs 100 Cr worldwide in the coming days.
