Unni Mukundan's Marco has managed to make audiences across the country to sit up and take notice of Malayalam’s most violent actioner. As the buzz grows louder for Marco, rumours also started making claims about the film’s impending OTT release. But will the movie, which is breaking box office records, cut short its theatrical run and make its OTT debut soon? Marco producer, Shareef Muhammed has now clarified the rumours with a Facebook post.
Marco is produced by Sharif Muhammed under the banner of Cubes Entertainments. After rumours claimed that the Unni Mukundan’s film is set for OTT release, Sharif Muhammed has clarified that currently they have not struck any deals with any OTT platforms, and the rumours are false. In an 'announcement' released on social media, he said that the film needs to be enjoyed in theatres itself.
"Let us clarify that as of now, we have not signed any agreements or confirmed any deals with any OTT platforms. Any claims of news stating otherwise are entirely fake and misleading," he said in the post on Facebook that was shared by Unni Mukundan.
While stating that they would officially announce the OTT release of the Haneef Adeni directorial, he urged the viewers to refrain from spreading fake news about the film's digital release. With a promise to keep viewers updated, Shareef said," Let's continue to celebrate the film by enjoying it at your nearest theatres.”
Meanwhile, Marco has been enjoying a terrific run at the box office. After Marco created waves in theatres across Kerala, the movie was dubbed and released in other languages, including Telugu, and released in those states.
Most of the dubbed versions, including Hindi, are seeing tremendous response with reports earlier stating that the Hindi version of Marco replaced even Varun Dhawan-starrer Baby John in metro cities such as Delhi and Mumbai. This is no small feat for a Malayalam movie, considering that the movies in Mollywood are made on relatively smaller budgets, compared to its other south counterparts and Bollywood.
