Marco shocked one and all as Unni Mukundan's film unleashed brutal violence on the silver screen, hitherto unknown to Malayalam cinema. Those who missed watching the film, directed by Haneef Adeni, on the big screen have been waiting for its OTT premiere. Now in the latest update, online portals have said that Unni Mukundan's violent actioner is likely to be available for streaming on SonyLiv.

Marco on OTT

According to various online portals and industry trackers, SonyLiv has bagged the OTT rights of Marco, which released in theatres on December 20, 2024. But the makers or the streaming platform are yet to officially confirm this. Even an OTT release date has not been announced. If Marco does release on SonyLiv, OTTplay Premium subscribers will also be able to watch the Malayalam actioner.

Earlier this month, rumours had claimed that Netflix would be acquiring Marco. Then Sharif Muhammed, who produced Marco under the banner of Cubes Entertainments, had issued a clarification after rumours about the Netflix premiere of the Malayalam film started gaining traction online.

Unni Mukundan plays the lead character in Marco who goes on a bloody rampage after a loved one is killed. Notably, the film is a spinoff of Mikhael which starred Nivin Pauly in the lead role. Unni Mukundan had played Marco in the 2019 film as well. Both the Nivin Pauly-starrer and Marco have been directed by Haneef Adeni. Marco also features Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu S Thilakan, and Kabir Duhan Singh in key roles.

The Malayalam film was a winner among the Christmas releases, earning over Rs 115 crore at the worldwide box office.

The other two Christmas releases Mohanlal’s Barroz and Aashiq Abu's directorial Rifle Club landed on OTT within a month of their release. While Barroz is on Hotstar, Rifle Club is streaming on Netflix. The other Christmas release Extra Decent, starring Suraj Venjaramoodu, is yet to announce its OTT partner.
