Mollywood filmmaker Major Ravi and Unni Mukundan are set to team up for a film based on Indo-Chinese skirmish in 2020 that was triggered by the construction of the Galwan Bridge in Ladakh by the Indian Army.

According to sources close to the filmmaker, Unni had approached Major Ravi and expressed his interest in being part of the movie. Major Ravi, who had previously helmed Keerthichakra , Picket 42 and 1971: Beyond Borders, is currently developing the script with the actor in mind to play the central character of a soldier who was part of the clash in June 15, 2020, that resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers and several Chinese army personnel.

The fight took place near the Galwan River, which will apparently also figure in the movie. The melee that broke out in 2020 lasted for six hours with Indian soldiers engaging in hand-to-hand combat while their Chinese counterparts had reportedly used iron rods and batons.

In an earlier interview to Kochi Times, Major Ravi had said that the upcoming film will also showcase the construction of the strategic Galwan Bridge, which was the chief reason behind the conflict.

With Unni now spreading his wings in Telugu too, the plan is to make a pan-Indian film with actors from Bollywood as well as other South industries. Shooting of the movie is expected to begin as soon as the script is complete and the project is greenlit by the authorities considering its storyline and locations that would include the Leh-Ladakh region.

Unni, meanwhile, is currently shooting for Samantha Ruth Prabhu-starrer Yashoda, which also has Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as part of the cast. The actor is also part of another Telugu film, in which he will play the lead. The film is set to be directed by Ramesh Varma, with whom he had teamed up for Ravi Teja’s Khiladi.
