Unni Mukundan dedicates Bruce Lee to all his favourite action heroes, movie to be made on a massive budget

Bruce Lee, which is touted to be the biggest project in Unni Mukundan’s career, was officially announced at a function in Kozhikode on Wednesday. The action entertainer, which is produced by Sree Gokulam Movies, is directed by Pulimurugan filmmaker Vysakh and written by Udaykrishna.

Earlier, the movie was set to be produced by Unni himself under his production banner Unni Mukundan Films. But as per reports, the film’s massive budget has prompted Sree Gokulam Movie to step in. Vysakh, who is known for his ‘mass’ entertainers, will be teaming up with Unni again after 11 years for the film. Their previous collaboration – Mallu Singh – gave the young actor his first-ever lead role.

Unni took to his social media to share the exciting update. “This movie is dedicated to all my favourite action heroes and for my love towards action movies. Can’t believe it’s been more than a DECADE since me and Vysakh ettan joined hands… better late than Never!(sic),” wrote the actor, sharing that it’s also the first time he will be working as the protagonist in Udaykrishna’s script.

The actor had earlier worked with the scriptwriter in Mammootty’s Master, in which he played the villain. Udaykrishna, who is one of the most-sought after writers in the industry for ‘mass’ entertainers, has also written the script for Mammootty’s latest project Christopher, which is being directed by B Unnikrishnan. Both Vysakh and Udaykrishna are also awaiting the release of their Mohanlal-starrer Monster, which will hit theatres on September 29 or 30.

Meanwhile, Unni is expected to undergo training in Kalaripayattu and martial arts to play the role in the film, which is touted to be a ‘mass’ entertainer that will have action as well as a storyline that will connect with the family and youth audience alike. The actor also called it, a magnum opus of his, and extended his gratitude to its producers for making it happen.

Unni’s next release, meanwhile, is expected to be Anoop Pandalam’s comedy entertainer Shafeekkinte Santosham, which also has Athmiya Rajan and Divya Pillai as part of its cast.
