Ghilli, the 2004 hit Tamil film starring Vijay and Trisha, has once again made it to theatres with a roaring response. The film was re-released on April 20, Saturday, to celebrate 20 years since its original release. Ghilli went on to become one of the career-defining films of Vijay and Trisha, and is once again making it into the hearts of scores of fans just like the first time. While we understand that not all might be able to visit the big screens, we are here to tell you where you can watch Ghilli from the comfort of your homes.

If you are unable to visit theatres to watch Ghilly, worry not. The film can be streamed on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium. The 159-minute-long action drama is about a kabaddi player Velu, who visits Madurai to participate in a tournament. He chances upon Dhanalakshmi, who is under the clutches of obsessed lover Muthupandi much to her disapproval. The rest of the film is about how Velu rescues Dhanalakshmi and brings her to Chennai only to find Muthupandi following them.

Ghilli got a great reception with the film re-releasing in theatres. Scores of fans celebrated the film like when it was first released. Ghilli is directed by Dharani and has songs by Vidya Sagar, which are celebrated till date.

Astounding success of Ghilli

In Tamil Nadu, Ghilli was released by Sakthi Film Factory. The film scored first place for the opening day footfall in 2024. Reports also suggest that the film made Rs 10-odd crore on the first day at the box office.

The film is a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu starring Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla. The film also starred Ashish Vidyarthi, Jennifer, Janaki Sabesh, and others. Ghilli was not only hailed for its commercial elements, but also praised for its lead cast performances, hit songs, and racy screenplay. Vijay and Trisha’s chemistry was also lauded.
