UI release date: Ahead of actor-filmmaker Upendra’s birthday, the buzz is that he may bring his film to theatres shortly

Real Star Upendra’s return to direction, UI, has been ready for release for a while, with the makers on the lookout for a decent release date. October 31 was heard as the date that Upendra and producer KP Sreekanth wanted to freeze on, as it was 2 weeks ahead of Shivarajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal (November 15), but they had not officially announced the same, which allowed Hombale Films to sneak in their next, Bagheera on that day.
As of now, the two Kannada films in theatres on October 31 are Sriimurali’s Bagheera and Prajwal Devaraj’s Rakshasha. The Deepavali weekend also has big-ticket releases like Thala Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi, Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Bhaskar, Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran, as well as Singham 3, starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh and Kartik Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyya 3.
In fact, a smaller Kannada film that was eyeing the festival of lights, Firefly, which is Niveditha Shivarajkumar’s debut production, was pushed ahead because of this overcrowding at the box office, and because there was confusion regarding the release of UI.
According to the latest buzz, although Upendra and team were surprised by the release date announcement of Bagheera, they were, at first, considering a late November or early December outing for UI. But now, it is being heard that UI may stick to its original plan and be in theatres on October 31 after all.
On the occasion of Upendra’s birthday on September 18, the team has called for a press briefing about the film and it is expected that a poster bearing an October outing announcement will be released. Netizens, meanwhile, are hoping fervently, that UI does not release on October 31, because the ensuing fight for theatres/shows, will be nothing short of ugly.
UI, which has music by Ajaneesh Loknath, also stars Reeshma Nanaiah, Nidhi Subbaiah, Murali Sharma, among others.
