UI movie release date: Here's when Upendra's technical marvel is out in theatres

Fans of superstar Upendra are keenly looking forward to the return of the director in him. Having begun his journey with a bang in the early 1990s as a writer-director, Upendra has several modern cult classics to his name including, Shhh!, Om, A, Upendra, Super and the more recent Uppi 2. Upendra's idiosyncratic ideas and quirks have grown to be hugely popular among his fans who are now ardently waiting for the release of UI, his eleventh outing as a director. 

Although the synopsis of the film remains under wraps, the makers have divulged that UI will be nothing short of a technical marvel that will employ some of the latest and most radical tools to realize Upendra's unique idea. Made at a budget of over Rs. 100 crores, the film will feature the 3D body scan (reportedly the first film in Asia to do so) with the help of as many as 200 cameras, a virtual reality pipeline similar to the one James Cameron used in the making of Avatar: The Way of Water and several other technical innovations that are sure to push the envelope in the Kannada Film Industry. Reportedly, UI will have as many as 14,000 VFX shots.

So, quite naturally, the audience is waiting with bated breath to see what the mind of Upendra has in store for them this time around. Addressing this concern, one of UI's producers Sreekanth K.P. recently spoke to a YouTube media channel to reveal that the team is well on course for the theatrical release which is scheduled for the end of 2023.

"Since UI is one of the biggest films of Kannada at the moment in terms of the making, Upendra sir is realizing his dream at a rather grand scale. The film has to be watched on the big screen to see and experience the grandeur. We have concentrated all our efforts on rendering this film for the big screen and not OTT or the small screens. UI is inching close to the end of the shooting phase - about 80 to 90% of it is already done and the film will definitely be in theatres by the end of this year," said KP Sreekanth.

The cast of UI also includes Upendra himself along with Reeshma Nanaiah, Sunny Leone, Nidhi Subbaiah, Murali Krishna, Indrajit Lankesh and several others. Ajaneesh B. Loknath scores the music.
