Liger marked the debut of Vijay Deverakonda in Hindi cinema and was directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film has completed two years today and is still being subject to trolls online even today. Well, what went wrong with this film is the biggest question.
Firstly, Liger did not have any story apart from some big names playing key roles in the film. Ananya Pandey made her Telugu debut with this film and she was also trolled for her silly acting in the film. Karan Johar co-produced the film along with Charmee and Puri Jagannath.

While Karan Jojar sold the film for decent prices and ended up in profits, it was Puri Jagan, who failed in a big way. Even today, he is being chased by a few distributors to repay some of the money as the film ended in massive losses. Liger had to make at least Rs 50 crore in Telugu states and it managed only Rs 15.
Also, Vijay Deverakonda was shown in the role of a man who stammers. The way Vijay performed in his role was hated by one and all. Clips of Vijay stammering have gone viral on the second anniversary of the film. The promotions of Liger were done in such a manner that the buzz for the film went to the next level.
Puri and his team spent crores of money on the casting and roped in boxer Mike Tyson. The way Mike was showcased in the film is outright silly and angered many fans. The sad part is that the director is out with his new film Double Ismart which is now in theaters.
Sadly, even this film has flopped. On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda has yet to score a hit after Liger. Two films of his, Kushi and Family Star have been released and flop. For now, Liger continues to be in the news but for all the wrong reasons. Well, you can stream the film on Disney + Hotstar.
