Turbo release update – Mammootty and Vysakh’s action comedy to hit the screens in June 2024?

Turbo, the highly anticipated project marks the reunion of megastar Mammootty and hitmaker Vysakh, after the massive success of Madhura Raja. The shooting of the film, which is touted to be an action comedy, was finally wrapped up in Chennai, on February 18, 2024. Earlier, filmmaker-writer Midhun Manuel Thomas, who penned the script of Turbo, had revealed that the makers are planning to release the film in May 2024. But now, the grapevine suggests that there’s a change in the release plans of the Mammootty starrer.

Mammootty’s Turbo to release in June 2024?

If the recent updates are to be believed, actor-producer Mammootty, director Vysakh, and the team are planning to postpone the release of the film from May 2024. The grapevine suggests that the team is planning to release the film in June instead of May. Reportedly, the makers are considering June 13, 2024, as the release date of Turbo. In that case, the project will hit the theatres coinciding with the Bakrid celebrations of the year. However, the makers have not reacted to any of these reports, yet.

Earlier, the highly anticipated Turbo teaser was expected to hit the theatres with Mammootty’s latest outing Bramayugam. However, the team is now planning to reveal the teaser, only after completing a major share of the post-production works. In that case, it is safe to assume that the official teaser of the Vysakh directorial will hit the screens, mostly by the beginning of March 2024.

Is Turbo a sequel to Kottayam Kunjachan?

Earlier, it was speculated that the highly anticipated project is a spiritual sequel to the 1990-released Mammootty starrer, Kottayam Kunjachan. Some other reports, however, suggested that the Vysakh directorial is a reboot of the blockbuster TS Suresh Babu directorial. However, in a recent interview, writer Midhun Manuel Thomas confirmed that Turbo is not a remake or reboot of Kottayam Kunjachan. He also revealed that Turbo is a full-fledged action film, which also has a touch of humour.

Popular Telugu actor Sunil, Kannada actor-director Raj B Shetty, Antony Varghese, and others essay the supporting roles in Turbo. Vishnu Sarma is the director of photography. Shameer Muhammed handles the editing. Justin Varghese composes the songs and original score. Shajie Naduvil handles the production design. Turbo is bankrolled by Mammootty himself, under his home banner Mammootty Kampany.
