A day ahead of schedule, Turbo, the most recent mass entertainer from Malayalam cinema in the first half of 2024, made its digital debut. Mammootty fans worldwide were eagerly awaiting its OTT release. Vysakh directed this film, which was written by filmmaker Midhun Manuel Thomas. As mentioned earlier, Sony LIV is currently offering the movie for streaming.
Sony LIV is streaming the Vysakh directorial in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, just like all the other recent Malayalam films that have made their debut on the OTT platform. This is Mammootty's second project acquired by the streaming service, the first being the phenomenally successful period horror thriller Bramayugam, which debuted in February. It is also possible that they paid a substantial sum for the digital rights to this film, given the amount of hype surrounding it.

The protagonist of the action drama, Turbo Jose, is an Idukki native who is compelled to go to Chennai after providing a favour that almost ends the relationship of a young couple. In Chennai, he gets caught up in a bigger conspiracy involving the police, underworld organisations, and business moguls.
Turbo has reportedly made over Rs 70 crore in total revenue at the box office, extending the Malayalam industry's successful run this year. However, the film saw a sharp drop in its earnings in Kerala over the course of the following few weeks despite having a fantastic start at the box office.
The fact that Turbo's makers are already working on a sequel is intriguing. In the franchise's second entry, another superstar from South India or Malayalam is anticipated to join the megastar. The film is also expected to start a franchise, which might bring Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi back to Malayalam cinema. The Arabic version of Turbo was released on August 2 in the GCC, much to the excitement of Mammootty fans everywhere.
