Turbo, the highly anticipated action film that stars Mammootty in the lead role, started rolling by the last quarter of 2023. The much-awaited project marks the megastar’s reunion with hitmaker Vysakh, after a long gap of over 5 years. The actor-director duo was originally supposed to team up for the big budget action thriller New York, in 2020. However, the project delayed indefinitely and eventually shelved, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and multiple lockdowns.

Now, Mammootty and Vysakh are teaming up for Turbo, which is penned by the popular actor-director Midhun Manuel Thomas. The veteran actor is set to play the titular character Turbo Jose in the movie, which is reportedly slated to hit the big screens in May 2024.

As per the recent updates, the new schedule of the highly anticipated Mammootty starrer has started rolling in Chennai, recently. If the reports are to be believed, the megastar and the other main star cast members of the movie are expected to join the Chennai schedule of the film. If things go as planned, the new schedule of the Turbo will be wrapped up by the upcoming week.

Turbo to feature high-octane action sequences

Now, the sources close to the Vysakh directorial suggest that the movie will have around 8 high-octane action sequences, featuring both leading man Mammootty, and other cast members. However, the project, which is penned by writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas is not an out-and-out action film. Instead, the team is planning to create a mass action film, which will have a touch of humour.

Kannada actor-director Raj B Shetty, Telugu actor Sunil, Antony Varghese, and many popular talents of Malayalam cinema appear in the pivotal roles, in Turbo. Vishnu Sarma is the director of photography. Justin Varghese composes the songs and original score. Shameer Muhammed handles the editing. Shajie Naduvil handles the production design. Turbo is bankrolled by Mammootty himself, under his home banner Mammootty Kampany. The much-awaited official teaser of the movie is expected to hit the theatres with Bramayugam, the upcoming horror thriller.
