Director Vysakh discussed his creative process for his most recent movie, Turbo, at a press conference today, May 16, held in Kochi. After a while, the director declared he was curious and thrilled to cast Mammootty in an action-packed role as a traditional Malayali Christian, or an "Achayan".
"Mammootty has played a lot of characters that are slightly similar to Jose in Turbo, but the scriptwriter, Midhun Manuel Thomas, and I thought of a way he could play a role that would appeal to the current audience," he said. Vysakh asserted that he used a contemporary approach to the film's production, incorporating every entertaining element that was technologically feasible. This, according to the director, is why the movie fits the definition of new-age mass entertainer.
He continued by saying that he was intrigued to see how the actor portrayed Jose in Turbo because he was aware that Mammootty never imitated his previous characters' mannerisms. When the film opens in theatres on May 23, viewers will be able to see that every character in the film—especially Mammootty—has worked hard to bring the story to life. He also praised all of the non-Malayalam actors, including Kannada star Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil, for their hard work in the movie.
Mammootty made it clear during the press conference that Jose is just an ordinary tourist driver who lives in a remote area and occasionally gets into small arguments during the local celebrations. He is neither a mob boss or a goon. He went on, "The movie's main plot revolves around how he would fare against opponents who are three times stronger than himself."
The actor from Bramayugam talked about his role as Jose in the action film directed by Vyshak. The Malayalam megastar insisted that there are no similarities between his role as Jose and his previous characters in his comedic Malayalam gangster flicks. The actor continued by saying that different situations surround the entire plot of the movie, which was mostly shot in Tamil Nadu.
