Sohum Shah's Tumbbad has beat its own original Box Office opening numbers by three times

Tumbbad has taken the Box Office by storm on the first day, at least this week. The movie has minted three times more than its original release, and not just that, it has managed to easily beat the new release, The Buckingham Murders, as well. It is to be noted that the advance booking for Sohum Shah's film only hinted at the movie crossing Rs. 1 crore mark on the opening day. Here's the Box Office collection for the re-release...
Tumbbad's opening day Box Office collection is Rs. 1.50 crores, according to a report on Pinkvilla. This is three times more than what the film opened at, back when it was released in 2018. Tumbbad's digital run and gaining more fan following over the years seems to have helped the film immensely.
Back in 2018, Tumbbad was declared a flop at the Box Office. The movie had minted Rs. 12 crores on a budget of Rs. 15 crores. Given the current scenario, though, it is likely that Tumbbad even compete with Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2, which had a successful run at the Box Office so far. If Tumbbad can hold for over a week with similar collections, then the movie would have beaten its original Box Office collection, too, and that would be huge, especially for a re-release.
Kareena Kapoor Khan's latest offering, The Buckingham Murders failed to generate the buzz at the Box Office. People have specifically been disappointed in the Hindu dubbed version of the movie but are slightly impressed with the original one. The movie has minted Rs. 1.15 crore at the Box Office, according to Sacnilk. Despite the low collections on opening day, the Box Office collections over the first weekend would give a better hint at how much The Buckingham Murders is connecting with the viewers. This is because the film received good word-of-mouth only from Friday evening. Nonetheless, Tumbbad and The Buckingham Murders are in competition (one nobody saw coming), and it would be interesting to see who emerges as the winner over the weekend.
