True Detective, a popular show, is back for a fourth season. According to Variety, the new season is presently titled True Detective: Night Country, and Issa Lopez has joined the cast as a writer, executive producer, and pilot director for the fourth instalment.
The fourth season will be executive produced by HBO's Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak of Pastel. The show's third season debuted in 2019, starring Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff. In the second season, which premiered in 2015, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch star in the second season. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey starred in the first season, which aired in 2014.
The first season, starring McConaughey, Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tor Kittles, is set in Louisiana and follows two Louisiana State Police officers on their 17-year search for a serial killer with occult ties.
The second season, which premiered in 2015 and stars Farrell, McAdams, Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, and Vaughn, is set in California and follows three detectives from three cooperating police departments, as well as a criminal-turned-businessman, as they investigate a series of crimes they believe are connected to the murder of a corrupt politician.
The third season, starring Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Dorff, Scoot McNairy, and Ray Fisher, is set in the Ozarks and follows a pair of Arkansas State Police investigators as they investigate a gruesome crime involving two missing children over three time periods.

At the 30th TCA Awards, True Detective took home the Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries, and Specials award, as well as nominations for Outstanding New Program and Program of the Year, at the 30th TCA Awards, while McConaughey took home the Outstanding Individual Achievement in Drama award.
The series was nominated for Best Drama Series at the 4th Critics' Choice Television Awards, and McConaughey won for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
The series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Harrelson and McConaughey nominated for Outstanding Lead Actors in a Drama Series, Pizzolatto nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for "The Secret Fate of All Life," and Fukunaga winning for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for "Who Goes There?"
