In response to derogatory comments made by former AIADMK leader AV Raju , actor Trisha filed a defamation case against the politician on Thursday. This legal action comes a day after Trisha expressed her intention to sue the politician for his distasteful remarks.

Trisha fights back

For the benefit of her fans, she shared images of the legal documents, revealing her basic demands should she refrain from pursuing legal options against Raju. According to the notice, Trisha has issued a "cease and desist order" against Raju to ensure he doesn't further tarnish her image by making similar comments in public. He is also directed to take prompt action to remove all reports and videos from the internet based on his comments.

As per the legal notice, AV Raju has about 24 hours to issue an unconditional apology to Trisha. "Publish the apology in a reputed national English daily newspaper and a reputed Tamil daily newspaper having a circulation of more than 5 lakhs per day and consequently post YouTube videos and release electronic media interviews publishing your unconditional apology to our client with the same prominence in which you had made the complaint," read one of the key demands in the notice.

AV Raju in hot water

Raju, who was recently ousted from the AIADMK party, held a press meeting and made serious allegations against some political leaders. He also portrayed the Tamil film industry negatively. His open mention of Trisha in the process sparked a strong reaction across Tamil Nadu.

In response to the widespread outrage on social media, Raju released a video message claiming that his comments were being misrepresented. He clarified that he shared information he heard from another person and did not make any unwarranted remarks about Trisha. He extended apologies to Trisha, Cheran, and RK Selvamani if his words caused them pain.

On the career front, Trisha has started shooting for her upcoming movie Thug Life. Starring Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan in the lead role, the film is written and directed by Mani Ratnam.
