Popular stand-up comedian Trevor Noah was supposed to perform in Bengaluru as part of his ongoing India tour, Off the Record. However, he was forced to pull out of the show at the last minute over technical glitches, attributing the mishap to a malfunctioning sound system. This followed a successful performance in Delhi earlier this week.
"Dear Bengalaru India, I was so looking forward to performing in your amazing city but due to technical issues we’ve been forced to cancel both shows," the former host of The Daily Show wrote on his X account.
Trevor Noah expressed disappointment while apologising to his eager fans in the city. "We tried everything but because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage there’s literally no way to do a show. We’ll make sure all ticket holders receive a full refund and again I’m so sorry for both the inconvenience and disappointment this has never happened to us before," he added.
Trevor Noah's Off the Record shows were originally slated for September 27 and September 28 in the city, but both have now been cancelled.
Trevor Noah's Bengaluru tour hits a sour note
Fans expressed their disappointment, particularly after enduring frustrating traffic jams to reach the venue, only to encounter inadequate arrangements that left them with no choice but to leave without witnessing Trevor's performance.
According to reports, the city's crumbling traffic problem also led to Trevor's delayed arrival at the venue, adding to the inconvenience of the fans. Even when he eventually took the stage, many in the audience were unable to hear him.
After failing to fix the faulty acoustics, Trevor was compelled to exit the venue.
Trevor will next perform at NSCI Domein Mumbai on September 30 and October 1st.
