Geethu Mohandas and Yash, it would seem, are finally ready to take their film, Toxic – A fairy tale for grown-ups, on floors. A little while ago, KVN Productions, the banner that is backing the Rocking Star’s venture, announced a casting call for an indefinite number of parts in the film. The criteria, interestingly, is only that the men, women and kids they are looking for have to be in a certain age group, with the ask only an introduction video accompanied by a minute of acting in any language. The catch: You have to send it in by March 25 latest.
The casting call comes amid rumours that the leading lady of Toxic has been finalised and that Kiara Advani is the one who’s been zeroed on. According to sources, Toxic has three pivotal roles earmarked for the ladies, two of which have been rumoured to be filled by Shruti Haasan and Kareena Kapoor Khan . Kiara completes the triad and is said the be the one who will be paired opposite Yash. She is the latest who has been rumoured to be in contention for the role, among actresses like Shraddha Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Samyukta Menon, Sai Pallavi, etc.
As soon as the casting announcement came, netizens responded with queries about when the film will officially go on floors, considering that the team has already announced a release date – April 10, 2025, which gives them just about a year to bring it to theatres. Netizens are now doubtful about the team meeting this deadline, considering that shooting has not begun yet for the film that is expected to be ‘massive’. Yash, though, has said in the past that his focus is not so much on the scale but the quality of the product and that his next may not be a ‘big film’ as fans have been expecting.
Yash, who wound up shooting for KGF: Chapter 2 in early 2021, has not faced a camera since then, but for his various ad commitments. The Rocking Star has spent a considerable time finalizing a director to collaborate with and zero in on a script of his liking, all of which has culminated in Moothon maker Geethu Mohandas helming #Yash19.
Geethu has been quoted as saying that she was keen to make a gangster film from a female perspective and Toxic is said to be that film. There are reports that the film is set in an earlier era and will explore the drug mafia in Goa.
