Tovino Thomas suffers injury after an aquarium breaks on sets of Nadikar Thilakam, advised 2 weeks rest

Malayalam star Tovino Thomas suffered a leg injury after an aquarium broke on the sets of Lal Jr’s Nadikal Thilakam. The actor sustained gashes on both his legs from the broken glass and has been advised rest for two weeks.

The team, who were shooting in Perumbavoor, had erected the set of a bedroom that had a huge aquarium with the photo of Tovino’s character in the backdrop. The glass wall apparently broke, causing injury to the actor – who had two gashes on both his legs and the toes of his right foot.

Tovino Thomas has 50 stitches to close wounds

Tovino had 50 micro stitches to close the gash and has been advised rest for two weeks, according to a source close to the actor, who incidentally plays a superstar in the movie that also has Soubin Shahir as part of the cast.

The film’s scriptwriter Suvin Somasekharan tells OTTplay that the accident didn’t happen during a fight sequence. “It happened just before the take. It wasn’t an action sequence. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t too serious. Tovino is fine and has been advised rest,” he says, adding that the team will be taking a break now, for them to resume shoot once the Thallumaala actor rejoins the sets of the film.

Tovino Thomas’ on-set injuries

This isn’t the first time Tovino has suffered injuries on the sets of his movies. The actor, who has been known for doing his own stunts, narrowly escaped a fire accident on the sets of Edakkad Battalion in 2019 when his uniform caught fire during a sequence. Tovino went on to complete the sequence even after the major scare.

In 2020, the actor sustained a serious injury on the sets of his movie Kala , when a punch by an actor landed on his stomach and caused internal bleeding. He was shifted to the hospital and was in the ICU for 24 hours. During the shoot of his movie Thallumaala too, the actor had to physically exert himself.

Tovino’s next releases include Anveshippin Kandethum and Ajayante Randam Moshanam, which will have in a triple role for the first time in his career.
