After scoring the biggest hit of his career with the all-out entertainer Thallumaala, Tovino Thomas is gearing up for another film that would cater to the masses with Lal Jr’s Nadigar Thilakam.
The movie, which is set to go on floors in October, is touted to be a Christmas release. The actor, who is currently shooting for Dr Biju’s Adrishya Jalakangal in Kasargod, is set to join the upcoming movie next month after he completes his portions of the film that also has Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans in the lead. Soubin Shahir is the second lead in the movie, which is scripted by Suvin Somashekharan.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Suvin, who had previously written the script of Joju George and Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Star, told us that the movie is a fun entertainer that also has realistic elements. “Contrary to its titled, the movie doesn’t have a cinema backdrop,” he said, adding that its not a dual hero project. “Tovino plays the central character and Soubin also has a pivotal role.”
Incidentally, Tovino and Soubin were initially cast as the leads in Thallumaala when Muhshin Parari was attached the direct the movie a few years ago. Shine Tom Chacko then replaced Soubin after the project was delayed, with Khalid Rahman taking on directorial duties and Muhsin and Ashraf Hamza scripting the venture.
Soubin, meanwhile, seems to have dropped his plans for directing Dulquer Salmaan in Othiram Kadakkam. The film, which began its pre-production earlier this year, seems to have been put on the backburner and Dulquer’s production house has accelerated work on Abhilash Joshiy’s King of Kotha instead. However, the duo is set to work together as actors in Vilasini Memorial, which also has Chemban Vinod Jose as part of the cast. The movie, which is directed by debutant Praveen Chandran, is reportedly an entertainer set against a rural backdrop.
