Tovino Thomas’ role in L2 Empuraan; here’s an exciting update

L2 Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019-released blockbuster Lucifer, is nearing the final stages of its filming. Mohanlal is reuniting with actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran for the film, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects of Malayalam cinema. Tovino Thomas is set to reprise his much-loved character Jatin Ramdas in L2 Empuraan. A new update on the actor’s role has left his fans and cinephiles highly excited.

Tovino Thomas’ role in L2 Empuraan

For the uninitiated, Tovino Thomas appeared as Jatin Ramdas, the son of veteran politician PK Ramdas, in Lucifer. Jatin, who lives in the USA with his partner, returns to India after his father passes away. Even though initially he looks just uninterested in continuing his father’s legacy, he later surprises both his family and the public, by proving his potential as a young politician.

As per the latest updates, Tovino Thomas’ character Jatin Ramdas will be seen as the young Chief Minister of Kerala, in the upcoming sequel, L2 Empuraan. The recently released location stills from the Thiruvananthapuram location of the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial confirms the same. From the pictures, it is also safe to assume that the cast and crew members are currently busy filming the portions, which showcase the death anniversary meeting of PK Ramdas.

L2 Empuraan: Cast and Crew

As you may know, Mohanlal is set to reprise the celebrated character Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Abraam, in L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj Sukumaran, on the other hand, is set to return as Zayed Masood. Along with Mohanlal, Prithviraj, and Tovino, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Baiju Santhosh, Saniya Iyappan, and others are also set to reprise their respective roles, in the much-awaited film. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arjun Das, Sharaf U Dheen, Shine Tom Chacko, and others are the new additions to the star cast.

Sujith Vaassudev is the director of photography. Deepak Dev composes the songs and original score. The Mohanlal starrer is jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor and A Subaskaran under the prestigious banners, Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. If things go as planned, L2 Empuraan will hit the theatres on March 27, 2024. A major update on the film (most probably the official teaser), is expected to be out very soon.
