Tovino Thomas’ Ajayante Randam Moshanam pre-viz teaser promises an epic 3D spectacle for the big screen

All those who had said Tovino Thomas missed a huge opportunity by releasing his big budget superhero film Minnal Murali in theatres will be biting their tongue after the pre-visualisation teaser of his latest movie Ajayante Randam Moshanam was released online.

The film, which went on floors on Tuesday in Karaikudi, is a big budget 3D adventure film that has Tovino in a triple role – with his characters’ arc set across three time periods, in 1900, 1950 and 1990. The pre-viz teaser that was let out by the team revealed the world of Chiyothikavu, where the story is based.

It starts off with a glimpse of a kalaripayattu warrior as he trains at sunrise. We also see visuals of a village on fire, people escaping on boat, the earlier warrior drowning and a fort atop a cliff. All of this could very well be from one character’s arc in the movie or a mishmash of two. Tovino plays Maniyan, Kunjikelu and Ajayan in the film, which is scripted by Sujith Nambiar and has music by Dhipu Nainan Thomas.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Jithin said that the team will first begin shooting Maniyan’s portions before moving on to Kunjikelu next and then ultimately to Ajayan’s scenes that are set in the 90s. “It’s an adventure entertainer that will be shot in 3D,” said Jithin, adding that the film will be the first Indian movie to be shot using Alexa Super 35 camera.

The team has also roped in a stellar crew comprising cinematographer Jomon T John, stunt directors Vikram Mor and Stunner Siva, and production designer Gokul Das for the movie. Apart from Tovino, the film also has Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Basil Joseph, Jagadeesh, Pramod Shetty, Hareesh Uthaman, Rohini and Hareesh Peradi in pivotal roles.

Ajayante Randam Moshanam is set to release next year in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
