Tota Roy Choudhury to star in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani

Tollywood actor Tota Roy Choudhury is on cloud nine right now. The actor has been roped in for Karan Johar’s upcoming project Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles. He is all set to leave for Mumbai for the final discussion with the director regarding his character and other shooting details. The shooting for his part is scheduled to begin in September.

He had auditioned for the role in February, following which he received a call from Karan Johar’s office to fly down to Mumbai for a meeting with the director, whereby Karan informed him that he liked his audition, and was even aware about his previous films. Calling him an extremely down-to-earth person, Tota praised the Kuch Kuch Hota Hain director and narrated how Karan greeted him, and his enormous respect for artistes is something Tota will remember forever.

Tota had first met Karan at the Mumbai premiere of Rituparno Ghosh’s film Chokher Bali, 17 years ago, with the actor having a brief interaction with the director after the screening. Tota has been dreaming of acting in his films since then, and finally his prayers have been answered. In fact, when he reminisced about this meeting to Karan, he was visibly stunned.

A love story that is deeply embedded in the roots of family, Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani is the directorial return of Karan, whose last major film was Ae Dil Hain Mushkil in 2016. With a star-studded cast from Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi to Alia, Ranveer, Churni Ganguly and Parambrata Chatterjee, the movie will release in 2022.
