Amidst ongoing speculations regarding the leading woman opposite Shakib Khan in the upcoming film Toofan, the veil has finally been lifted. Mimi Chakraborty and Bangladeshi actress Masuma Rahman Nabila have been confirmed as the female leads for this much-anticipated venture. Directed by Raihan Rafi and produced by Alpha-i, Chorki, and SVF, Toofan made headlines last year during its grand announcement, initially revealing the male protagonist but keeping the female lead under wraps. According to sources, Shakib Khan has already visited Kolkata for the look test.

Meanwhile, expressing her enthusiasm, Mimi Chakraborty said, “It has always been a pleasure being part of any Bangladeshi projects – whether it was work or leisure. Moreover, sharing the screen with Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan for the first time is truly exhilarating. The collaboration of three production powerhouses Alpha-i, Chorki, and SVF from both countries is something to look forward to. I'm eagerly anticipating delivering something exceptional for the audience.”

Nabila, who left an indelible mark on audiences with Ayanabaji, makes a comeback after a hiatus with Toofan. Reflecting on her return to the silver screen, Nabila expressed, “There’s a sense of joy in getting back to work, coupled with the excitement of returning to the big screen after a prolonged absence. Now, our focus lies on ensuring a seamless journey from production to audience reception.” This is Mimi’s debut in Bangladeshi films. Last year’s film Surongo, directed by Rafi, was liked by the audience. Now, the makers are claiming that his new venture, which is an action thriller involving Shakib, Mimi, and Nabila, will stun the audience. The shooting recently started in Hyderabad.

Echoing similar sentiments, representatives from the three production companies, Mahendra Soni, Shahriar Shakil, and Redwan Roni, expressed their delight in casting Mimi and Nabila. They emphasised Mimi's widespread popularity across Bengali regions and the distinct affection the audience holds for Nabila. Anticipating a cinematic storm, they believe the union of these two talented actresses with Shakib Khan will captivate audiences from both West Bengal and Bangladesh.
