Tollywood in 2023: Hit films that impressed at the box office

Telugu cinema is at its peak as some of the biggest films are being made in Tollywood in the last few years. The entire country is focusing on the Telugu industry and is keen to know what is coming out next. 2023 has also started with a bang and three months have passed away so far. Let's look at some of the hits that made heads turn at the box office.

Waltair Veerayya

Megastar Chiranjeevi returned to the silver screen with a mass role after a long time. The film was a Sankranthi 2023 release and came out on the 12th of January. Directed by Bobby, this film had Ravi Teja in a key role and was declared a blockbuster. It collected over 120 crores share worldwide and became one of the top ten hits in Telugu cinema.

Veera Simha Reddy

The Balakrishna starrer also come out in the same Sankranthi 2023 season and was out a day earlier than Waltair Veerayya. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, this film was a massive hit and showcased Balayya in a new avatar. VSR became Balakrishna's first ever 100 crore share film and took his stardom to the next level. Shruthi Haasan and Honey Rose played the female leads.

Writer Padmabhushan

Suhas is now a bankable actor in Telugu cinema. His new film Writer Padmabhushan was made on a very low budget and impressed both the youth and family audiences. The film is about a writer who gets into problems when someone publishes books under his name. The film was so well promoted that it opened with good collections and made good money. Chai Baisket Films and Lahari Films made this movie.

Balagam

Not many even knew that such a film was even coming out in the first place. Directed by debutante Venu Yeldandi, this film is about the circumstances a family undergoes when an elder in the same family passes away. Priyadarshi played the lead and the film is set in rural Telangana and is still seeing collections in the Nizam area. Dil Raju has seen handsome profits with this film.

Dasara

Last but not least is Nani's Dasara. The rural drama was promoted in such a way that it had to open big. Nani's transformation and director Sriikanth Odela's direction has made this film a big hit. The film has been released as a Pan-India project and is on its way to grossing 100 crores at the box office. Keerthy Suresh played the female lead in this film.
