The world is not yet over the news that HBO has discontinued the show Tokyo Vice on Max and will not be commissioning the third season. The makers kept radio silence, leaving fans shocked that season 3 was canceled. It was announced that the second season would be the last of the Ansel Elgort show unless the studio found the content compelling enough to revive it. However, showrunner J.T. Rogers and executive producer Alan Poul had still not said anything about the dramatic turn. It turns out they have now finally broken their silence, and there is still hope that the show is not ending yet and there may be a third season on Lionsgate Play in India.

Tokyo Vice 3 Still Possible?

Are you confused? We were too. Let's dissect. Tokyo Vice streams on HBO and Max in major markets, but it was Fifth Season who were responsible for bringing the show to life. So technically, with the show's potential to penetrate overseas markets, there is a possibility for season 3 to move ahead with another platform or network. Yes, you heard that right. So even when HBO has said they have canceled Tokyo Vice season 3, there are still chances that we might get it. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

Both J.T. Rogers and Alan Poul are not ready to call it quits with Tokyo Vice yet. According to Variety, Poul said, "Well, our partners on the show, Fifth Season, is the studio behind the show. And it's worth remembering that Fifth Season sells the show internationally. Max exists in North America, most of South America, and a few European territories, and the rest of the world is sold by our friends at Fifth Season. And they've sold very well. It's been a global hit.”

"So we look to our partners. We haven't even really put our heads together yet, because this is all very new. But there are many territories in Europe and Asia and Africa and Australia that still will want the show, and we have to see how our partners, Fifth Season, are going to prepare to respond to them,” Poul added.

For the unversed, J.T. Rogers and Alan Poul concluded the story that they premiered with in Tokyo Vice season 2. Talking about what they feel about the future, Poul said, "I think we're keeping our options open. We love and trust our friends at Fifth Season. They're gonna guide us in that. Our goal right now is to support them as they work, and frankly, for me to just keep building the world as we wait."

About Tokyo Vice

Inspired by journalist Jake Adelstein's memoir of the same name, Tokyo Vice starring Ansel Elgort in the lead, explores the underbelly of a town. A journalist stumbles upon a case and soon realizes he is against the most powerful bigwigs of the ecosystem. The second season of the show was very much a conclusion to the recurring story. The Tokyo Vice season 3 will have to bring a completely new storyline.
