The story of RMS Titanic is not a revelation to anyone, thanks to James Cameron's epic romance drama that fictionalised the tragedy but also brought to us a romance unlike any other.

Titanic is once again in the news, with a Reddit fan theory speculating whether Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack was merely a figment of Rose's (Kate Winslet) imagination. You can read the theory here

However, before you do that here is a recap of the film's plot and where it can be streamed online.

Where can Titanic be watched?

Titanic is available on Disney+ Hotstar. Subscription begins from Rs 899 per year.

What is Titanic about?

The film is a retelling of the catastrophic sinking of a luxury liner, on its maiden voyage, in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912. In the midst of the excitement of the trip, are two youths — Rose DeWitt Bukate, a 17-year-old from a wealthy family who is betrothed to Caledon "Cal" Hockley and Jack Dawson, a poor artist travelling in the lowest rung of the ship. Their paths cross and they instantly develop a friendship that soon takes a romantic turn. But their love story is short-lived, as the ship crashes into an iceberg causing most travellers, barring a few, to drown.

Who are in the cast and crew?

Cameron has written, directed and produced the film that stars Winslet and DiCaprio in the lead. Joining these actors are Billy Zane, Frances Fisher, Billy Paxton, Gloria Stuart, David Warner, Kathy Bates, Victor Garber, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Eric Braeden, Bernard Fox.

What more should you know about the film?

Titanic was built at an immensely large budget of $200 million, as witnessed in the special effects, the spectacular sets that capture the essence of that era, and a stellar cast and crew that made the film possible.

Titanic can easily be considered a cult classic, a masterpiece in contemporary cinema, and so can its award-winning soundtrack composed, orchestrated, and conducted by James Horner.

It was the highest-grossing film of all time until Cameron's sci-fi adventure film Avatar took over in 2010.

The drama won Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song while DiCaprio, Stuart and Winslet scored acting nominations.

At the Oscars, it earned 14 nominations and won awards for Best Director, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Dramatic Score, and Best Original Song.
