Tiku Weds Sheru: Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur share a kiss on a beach; netizens react

The makers of Tiku Weds Sheru, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur, unveiled the film's first official trailer on June 14. The lead actors, Nawazuddin and Avneet, have some sexual chemistry in the trailer, which has caused a huge online outrage. Due to the 27-year age difference between Nawazuddin and Avneet, a liplock scene in the trailer has shocked online users. 

Tiku is played by 21-year-old Avneet, who views marriage as her escape to Mumbai from a small town to become an actress, and Sheru played by 49-year-old Nawazuddin, who has been working as a junior artist in the city for years, are the subjects of the film. It is directed by Sai Kabir and produced by Kangana Ranaut. The comedy of errors for this unusual pair begins when they get married. 

Nawazuddin and Avneet's lip-locking scene in the trailer has, however, angered several online users due to the age gap between the two actors. One user wrote, "This is just nasty, Avneet was probably 20 when the shooting of this movie started, she is also highly sexualised in the trailer." 

Another one wrote, "Gross also what is up with Nawaaz's movie choices?"

A third user wrote, “Can’t defend Nawaz anymore. Bahut ho gaya outsider outsider."

“I don't get the ‘the script demands it, it's fine' thing. It's still weird and we're allowed to feel icky. Let's not just promote such age gaps in relationships/marriages (it's fine if they're both adults but Avneet is clearly just barely legal here),” commented one online user. 

Tiku Weds Sheru will release on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
