The production company of Aditya Chopra is the first to create a fictional universe specifically for spy thrillers called YRF Spy Universe. In 2012, Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, was released as the first film in the universe, and in 2017, Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel, was released. Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff played significant parts in War, the third film in the franchise, which was released in 2019. Pathaan (2023) is the latest part of the spy universe film series, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham.
All the films in the Spy Universe are blockbusters, with Pathaan being the all-time highest-grossing Hindi film ever. The YRF Spy Universe has grown to become one of the most successful intellectual properties in the Indian film industry. This year's Diwali will see the release of Tiger 3, the third installment in the franchise and the fifth film in the Spy Universe.
