Tiger 3 box office collection Day 2: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's film sets an unprecedented record by minting ₹58 crore

The release of Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, was the talk of the town this Diwali. The film did create an uproar at the box office in terms of advance booking. Now, the film's opening weekend was the biggest ever for Diwali, grossing an astounding Rs. 44.50 crore. The film surely continued its success binge on the second day, with a collection of Rs. 58 crore on the second day, Monday, which is also the highest grossing collector for a Hindi film on the day.

Unprecedented opening weekend triumph

Tiger 3's enormous box office success has shown that despite mixed reviews, even on Diwali, when most of the country is preoccupied with the Laxmi puja that marks the beginning of the festival of lights, cinegoers do throng to theatres for entertainment. Diwali Pooja Day is often one of the "weak" days at the box office due to low attendance, but this time was an all-time high for ticket sales. A national holiday is one of the largest days at the box office, yet Tiger 3 still managed to earn Rs. 101 crore in its first two days of release.

In addition, the Tiger series has never had a bigger first day of release. The dubbed version of the film did quite well in its opening weekend, earning Rs. 1.50 crore on Sunday and Rs. 1.25 crore on Monday for a grand total of Rs. 2.75 crore in Tamil and Telugu.

Star-studded cast

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprise their roles as Tiger and Zoya in Tiger 3, while Emraan Hashmi plays the main antagonist, Aatish. The film also stars Revathy, Ridhi Dogra, and Vishal Jethwa in pivotal roles, while Shah Rukh Khan reprises his role as Pathaan in a special appearance. Maneesh Sharma directed the movie, which launched in theatres on November 12, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Tiger 3 marks the fifth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), and Pathaan (2023).
