Thurthu Nirgamana, which means Emergency Exit, is releasing in theatres on June 24. The film is actor Suneel Rao’s comeback vehicle and should have been out in February 2020. The pandemic, of course, did not let that be. The film, directed by Hemanth Kumar, has been described as an out-of-the box experimental subject, but the makers remained firm against a direct-to-OTT release, because it has a lot of visual effects, which have to be enjoyed on the big screen. The team waited it out and recently announced the theatrical release date. In the run-up to that, the film’s trailer was revealed this week.
The team of Thurthu Nirgamana has been quite vocal about the subject of the film, which revolves around Suneel’s character Vikram, who dies but is then given the opportunity to go back to three days prior to his demise to figure out what he wants and needs to do. What he will do differently and how that impacts Vikram is the crux of the story and that is pretty much what the trailer also encapsulates. Although one detail that was added is that Vikram will remain stuck in those three days if he doesn’t make the right choices. Sounds a bit like Simbu’s Maanaadu? Well, the time loop seems to be the only similarity at the moment.
Produced by Kumar and Kumar Films, in association with Shylaja Pictures, the dark comedy Thurthu Nirgamana also stars Sudharani, Achyuth Kumar, Raj B Shetty, Hitha Chandrashekar, Samyuktha Hegde, Aruna Balraj and Amrutha Ramamoorthi in pivotal roles. The film has music by Dheerenda Doss and cinematography by Prayag Mukundan.
Thurthu Nirgamana will be in competition with at least three other Kannada films at the box office that week. First there is Rishab Shetty’s Harikatha Alla Girikathe on June 23, followed by Vikram Ravichandran’s debut Trivikrama and Kannadathi fame Kiran Raj’s Buddies on June 24.
