Ghajini was a film which changed the fortune for director AR Murugadoss. The Tamil version, starring Suriya in the lead, went on to become a money-spinner across all south states. After a couple of years, its Hindi remake was made with Aamir Khan headlining the project.
The Bollywood version became a smashing hit, thus making the filmmaker one of the most-wanted directors of the country. He went on to direct a few more superhit films in Tamil, but a couple of his outings in recent years like Spyder and Darbar failed to meet the expectations.
In a recent interview, Murugadoss, who is gearing up for the release of his production venture 1947 August 16, did a self introspection on what went wrong with Darbar. He opened up about not meeting the expectations in terms of following the schedules owing to unexpected happenings.
He had time constraints while shooting for the project which affected the movie's quality, he pointed out. The Kaththi filmmaker also reminisced what Aamir Khan told him about a strategy with regard to releasing movies on time.
Murugadoss said, "I remember a secret which Aamir told me once. According to him, announcing a movie's release in advance isn't a feasible idea. He also opined that release should be planned only after the production is almost 80-90 percent complete."
The 3 Idiots star also said that this method allows the crew to make favourable changes to their film as and when required without undergoing any pressure to release the project on the announced date. Meanwhile, Murugadoss is currently in talks for a movie with Sivakarthikeyan, and an official update is expected soon.
