Govinda and David Dhawan have teamed up in the past to make hit movies such as Raja Babu, Hero No 1, and Partner. While they were a good duo, there was a lot of friction between the two as well. In an old interview, the actor also compared Karan Johar and Dhawan and said that the former is more dangerous.
In an interview with Pinkvilla back in 2017, Govinda felt that Karan Johar was in the wrong to release his movie Badrinath Ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan a week after the actor’s Aa Gaya Hero hit theatres.
“He must have said that. It would be a matter of national respect for him if he calls Govinda, but he is releasing Varun's (Dhawan) film just a week after my film. He shows that he's very humble and innocent, but I find Karan Johar even more jealous and dangerous than David Dhawan,” Govinda said when he was asked if he would appear on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan.
The actor added that the filmmaker has never called him in 30 years and that he does not see or even say hello to actors who are not part of his group. Govinda further added that Karan is not kind-hearted and that he never thought that the director was nice.
Govinda had also opened up about his differences with Dhawan, saying that he heard the director say that he started questioning him and that he did not want to work with Govinda anymore. He further added that Dhawan also stopped picking up his phone calls after this.
Govinda, who made his debut in the 1986 movie Love 86, was last seen in the 2019 Rangeela Raja, in which he plays a double role.
