Throwback Thursday: When Jackie Shroff revealed how far Ayesha Shroff was willing to go to be with him

Bollywood has borne witness to some of the most exceptional love stories the world has seen of late, and Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Dutt’s story could definitely be counted as one among them. The duo have been together for more than three decades now, and they are going as strong as ever. But it seems that the initial days when they’re love story began witnessed some unconventional elements indeed, as Jackie had revealed in an old interview.

In a 2002 interview with Simi Garewal, Jackie spoke of the moment he realised that Ayesha was ‘the one’ for him. The veteran actor revealed that, before Ayesha came into the picture, he had been in love with another woman, who had gone to the United States for her studies. It was during this period that he met Ayesha and fell in love with her. But being the stand up guy that he was, Jackie told Ayesha all about his girlfriend in the US. That was when Ayesha decided to take an unconventional step.

Being absolutely head over heels in love with Jackie, she wrote a letter to the woman in the US, saying that when she returned, the both of them could marry Jackie and live like sisters.

Thinking back on the incident, Ayesha could not believe what she did. Saying that she did not know what she was thinking, Ayesha spoke of how desperately she wanted to be with Jackie. “If there was a choice between losing him and keeping him with her, it is as simple as that", she had said.

Jackie and Ayesha had gotten married in 1987.The couple have two children together- Tiger Shroff and Krishna Shroff.

On the work side, Jackie had a number of releases in 2022, including Rashtra Kavach Om, Atithi Bhooto Bhava, Phone Bhoot, Life's Good and Ottu.
