Young stars Anna Ben and Arjun Ashokan’s first movie together – Thrishanku – is all set to hit theatres. The movie, which is helmed by debutant Achyuth Vinayak, is a fun comedy entertainer.
Apart from Anna and Arjun, the film also has Nandu, Suresh Krishna, Krishna Kumar, Zarin Shihab, TG Ravi and Fahim Safar as part of its cast. Thrishanku is also the debut Malayalam production of Matchbox Pictures, which had previously backed Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun and Rajkummar Rao’s Monica, O My Darling.
What is Thrishanku about?
In a nutshell, the film is about what happens to Sethu and Megha who decide to elope but are forced to drop their plan when Sethu’s sister elopes first. How Sethu and his two conservative uncles along with Megha then take an unlikely journey from Kerala to Mangalore to find his sister form the plot of this entertainer, which is scripted by Ajith Nair and Achyuth, who had previously worked as an assistant director in Priyadarshan’s movies.
In an interview with OTTplay, Anna said, “I had been doing gritty films where my characters were going through a lot of struggles and trauma, and so I felt that I wanted to try a fun movie too. These were the kind of films we would watch in the early 2000s that had a lot of fun, actors, chaos and music. That’s exactly what this film offers.”
Though both Anna and Arjun have got offers to team up in various films, Thrishanku happened to be the first collaboration that materialized. The duo was initially set to work together in Vikruthi director Enittu Avasaanam that was delayed due to production issues.
When and where to watch Thrishanku?
Thrishanku is set to hit theatres on May 26. The movie will release along with VK Prakash’s media thriller Live, which also has Mamta Mohandas, Soubin Shahir, Priya Prakash Varrier and Shine Tom Chacko.
