Debutant filmmaker Achyuth Vinayak’s comedy entertainer Thrishanku, which hit theatres last month, has dropped on a leading OTT platform, less than a month after its theatrical release. The comedy entertainer began streaming online on June 23.

The film has Anna Ben, Arjun Ashokan, Nandu, Zarin Shihab, Krishna Kumar, Fahim Safar and Suresh Krishna in pivotal roles, and was extensively shot in Kerala and Hyderabad.

What is Thrishanku’s story?

The movie, which is co-scripted by Ajith Nair and Achyuth, revolves around youngsters Sethu and Megha who decide to elope. But on the very same day, Sethu’s sister elopes with her collegemate, forcing the duo to put their plans on hold. Sethu along with his two uncles then decide to travel to Mangalore in search of his sister, while Megha joins the trio.

The comedy entertainer is replete with incidents that show the generation gap as well as the difference in ideologies between people of the same and different age groups.

In an earlier interview with us, Anna said she was hooked by the one-liner that Achyuth had pitched her about a couple cancelling their plans to elope when another elopement happens. “Achyuth had previously assisted Priyadarshan sir and he wanted to do a fun film. I had been doing gritty films where my characters were going through a lot of struggles and trauma, and so I felt that I wanted to try a fun movie too,” she said.

Thrishanku also marks the debut Malayalam production of Matchbox Pictures, which had earlier backed Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun and Rajkummar Rao’s Monica, O My Darling.
