On the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi, the team of Thothapuri: Chapter 2 revealed the trailer of the film led by Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh. Century Star Shivarajkumar did the honours for the film produced by KA Suresh and directed by Vijayaprasad. Thothapuri: Chapter 1 had released last year on September 30 in competition with Kantara and Ponniyin Selvan 1 and, obviously, failed to attract audiences. The film then dropped on Zee5 Kannada shortly after and for a long time it was thought that the makers would skip a theatrical for the second instalment and bring that to the platform as well.

But then, out of the blue, producer Suresh announced that Thothapuri: Chapter 2 would release in theatres on August 11, a plan which he could not follow through, as Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer was on a rampage in Karnataka and left any other movie with barely any shows/screens. When we spoke to Suresh at the time, he said that he would evaluate the situation and decide when to bring the film to theatres. A date is yet to be confirmed, but it seems that Thothapuri: Chapter 2 may not be far away after all, as the team revealed the trailer of the second instalment today. Prior to the trailer launch, Jaggesh had said that while Chapter 1 introduced audiences to the characters of the story, whether it was Aditi Prabhudeva as Shakeela Bhanu, Hema Dutta as Nanjamma, Veena Sundar as Donne Rangamma, among others, Chapter 2 is where the story actually takes off.

In Chapter 1, Daali Dhananjaya had a cameo, which becomes a full-fledged role in Chapter 2 and explores the inter-faith relationships between Ere Gowda and Shakeela, as well as Dhananjay and Victoria. This time around, Anoop Seelin is not in the music director’s chair, with Arun Andrew doing the needful.
