When the Tamil anthology film Super Deluxe released in theatres a couple of years ago, audiences wondered why it didn't have Telugu dubbed release despite having many names familiar to Telugu crowds like Samantha, Vijay Sethupathi and Ramya Krishna. The Tamil film eventually released on Netflix but Telugu audiences missed the fun of watching the genre-bender in their language. Looks like there's some good news for them at last. aha has bagged the streaming rights for the Telugu dubbed version of Super Deluxe and is aiming for a release as early as July 9.
Super Deluxe brings together the stories of Vembu who messes up with an extramarital affair, a former porn star Leela and her attempt to lead a normal life, a trans-woman Shilpa desperate for acceptance and Arputham, an overly religious man in his late 40s. Also starring Fahadh Faasil, Gayathri, Mrinalini Ravi, Mysskin and Vijay Ram in key roles, the film was helmed by Aranya Kaandam filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja. The film's screenplay is co-written by the director and noted filmmakers Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy.
The film earned immense critical acclaim and was a decent commercial success in Tamil. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the anthology. It remains to be seen if the essence and ethos of the original are retained in the Telugu dubbed version too. Looks like we can't wait for July 9 already. Meanwhile, the film's lead actors Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha are yet again teaming up for Vignesh Shivn's Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal.
