Rohena Gera's 'Is Love Enough? - Sir', which came out in 2018, traces a unique love story that transcends caste and cultural boundaries. The film stars Tillotama Shome in the role of Ratna, an "on-premise" maid hired to work for Ashwin (Vivek Gomber), a wealthy man who returns home to Mumbai from New York after learning that his brother is not well.
The film, generally referred to as 'Sir', follows these two characters who belong to different strata of society and weaves an intimate and romantic story. Although Ashwin comes with a lot of affluence and means, he is shown as someone who believes in seeing beyond caste and class-based differences and is drawn to Ratna for her progressive view towards life.
Ratna, on the other hand, isn't rendered as a one-dimensional token figure but more as a level-headed individual who is sensitive and wise. As a result, what we get isn't a run-of-the-mill love story but a complex human drama that counts in several factors including societal norms, social hierarchy and so much more.
Rohena Gera's narrative then puts this unlikely relationship to test with both Ratna and Ashwin having to take necessary steps to meet at that ideal middle point. Will they see through this challenge? Or will the might of society come down heavy on them?
'Sir' is currently playing on Netflix but the film will purged from the streamer's database on January 8th. For those who enjoy watching stories that unfold at their own pace and carry a tone or flavour of their own, Rohena Gera's film is a must-watch.

The cast of 'Sir' also includes Divya Seth, Dilnaz Irani, Anupriya Goenka, Rashi Mal and others. Dominique Colin is the film's cinematographer and Ragav Vagav, the music composer. Rohena Gera has produced the film along with Brice Poisson.
