Choreographer-turned-actor Sandy seems to have become a regular in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's movies. He recently confirmed that he is part of the director's upcoming Thalaivar 171, starring Superstar Rajinikanth . However, he refrained from revealing the details at this stage of the project.
"I am part of the project. And I am going to do something big and exciting," Sandy confirmed while talking at an event recently.
Sandy's collaboration with Lokesh began with the 2022 blockbuster Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan. He had choreographed the dance sequence for the "Pathala Pathala" song. Later, he played a key supporting role in Lokesh's previous film Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, inspired by the comic book "The History of Violence."
In Leo, Sandy essayed one of the psychopathic killers who forces the hero to drop the pretence and reveal his true self in a pivotal moment. Sandy's performance in the scene garnered a lot of praise.
However, it's unclear in what capacity Sandy is associated with Thalaivar 171. Is he playing a supporting role or choreographing a dance number?

Thalaivar 171 is still in pre-production. Lokesh earlier revealed that the film will go on the floors in June and aims for a theatrical release in 2025.
Lokesh also revealed that Thalaivar 171 is "100 per cent his film," promising to show Rajinikanth in a new dimension. Lokesh is known for challenging the formulaic storytelling norms while directing big superstars. All his movies have defied popular expectations and have found great success. For example, in Vikram, we don't see much of Kamal Haasan in the first half. In Leo, Vijay steered clear of all clichés like hero introduction songs and punchlines.
Lokesh earlier revealed that Thalaivar 171 is an experimental film that shows Rajinikanth in a new light. Speculations are rife that Rajinikanth's role may be villainous.
