This is why Nayanthara skipped Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan pre-release event

The pre-release event of the upcoming movie Jawan, starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, was a big hit. The star-studded event took place on Wednesday at Chennai's Sri Sai Ram Engineering College. However, Nayanthara, the female lead in Jawan, was conspicuous by her absence at the event, which was attended by the rest of the movie's main cast and crew. 

The filmmakers clarified the exact reason as to why she was not present at the event, in a proactive attempt to remove any possibility of unwanted speculations and controversies. "Nayanthara ji is not here, She wanted to come but she is stuck with Onam festivities. I call her, Vaseegaramana Nayanthara," Shah Rukh Khan said while making a speech at the event.

Director Atlee also thanked Nayanthara in his speech and reiterated the same information. "Nayanthara was still in Kerala because of Onam. That's why she couldn't come to this event," Atlee added. 

Nayanthara's Bollywood debut

Jawan not only marks Atlee's directorial debut in Hindi, this movie is Nayanthara's foray into Bollywood. And it's a dream debut for her considering she is a self-proclaimed fan of Shah Rukh Khan. In earlier interviews, she had revealed her admiration for the King Khan. 

Thanks to Jawan, she managed to form a strong friendship with Shah Rukh Khan, who also attended her wedding with director Vignesh Shivan last year.

Nayanthara is playing Shah Rukh Khan's love interest in the movie. However, judging from the trailer , it seems she is not just a hero's arm candy. She seems to have a lot of action sequences in the movie. 

When is Jawan releasing?

After a little delay in the release plans, Jawan is all set to make its grand debut at the global box office next week. Written and directed by Atlee, the movie stars Vijay Sethupathi as the main antagonist. And it will arrive in cinemas on September 7.
