This is when Kamal Haasan will join Prabhas on Kalki 2898 AD sets

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan is all set to start shooting for the upcoming sci-fi extravaganza Kalki 2898 AD, which was formerly titled Project K. Written and directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has a star-spangled star cast led by Prabhas. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. 

According to the latest buzz, Kamal will be joining the sets of Kalki 2898 AD in the second week of September. And he's expected to shoot non-stop for the movie till November. It's said that the filmmakers have planned to wrap up the production by the end of the year, so they can focus fully on the post-production.

While initially Kalki 2898 AD was planned for a release in January 2024, targetting the Sankranti holiday, the production delay forced the filmmakers to postpone its release date. If everything goes according to the plan, the filmmakers have slated it for a release during next summer. 

Kamal Haasan will embrace the dark side in Kalki 2898 AD

Even though the filmmakers have not officially confirmed it, many believe that Kamal will be playing the main villain in Kalki 2898 AD, which is set in the distant future. “The reason I accepted to do this film (is because) I come from the analogous cinema, Without the negative there's no positive, so a negative role is an important role in a film," Kamal had said while discussing his role in the movie. 

Kamal is no stranger to playing antagonistic roles. He has embraced the dark side of humanity in movies like Dasavatharam and Aalavandhan. But, Kalki 2898 AD marks his departure from the tradition of not playing a negative role in movies headlined by other stars.

What are Kamal Haasan's other projects?

Kamal Haasan is now busy shooting for Indian 2. Once he finishes his commitments to the movie, he will join the sets of Kalki 2898 AD. He has signed a political drama with director H Vinoth of Thunivu fame. And he also has a big-budget drama with director Mani Ratnam in the works.
