Standup comedian-turned-actor Anubhav Singh Bassi has been receiving a lot of love for his new show - Bas Kar Bassi - which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Anubhav recently revealed what went behind choosing the quirky name for the show.

“The story behind the name is that some time ago, Ashish Solanki (Comicstaan Season 3 winner) and I were once going to a corporate show in Gurgaon. On our way, I was cracking some really bad and random jokes, and suddenly Ashish said, ‘bas kar Bassi!’,” said Anubhav.

He added that before taking up comedy and performance as a full-time profession, he did multiple other jobs. But most of the time, he wouldn’t be good at or satisfied with whatever job he was doing. Perhaps, the artiste heard the same thing from his co-workers too.

“At every workplace, people used to tell me ‘bas kar Bassi’, as they too realised that the job was not meant for me. So, I thought that this title would be perfect for my first special!,” the comedian added.

Apart from his new show, Anubhav will also be seen in the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film is slated to release on March 8.

Starting his career with an open pic performance in 2017, after being a UPSC aspirant and trying his luck at different jobs, Anubhav started creating funny content on social media and on his YouTube channel. Within a short span of time, he started gaining millions of followers and subscribers (going over three million). He also did multiple city tours with his comedy set, Bas Kar Bassi, before it formed into a show for the OTT platform.

The new show is directed by Abhishek Upmanyu and produced by Karan Asnani, Ankur Bhargava, Rohit Gour, Shivanand Lalwani and Veena Lalwani. It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
