Actor Nithya Menen bagged the Best Actress Award for her performance as Shobhana in the 2022 Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam, at the 70th National Film Awards which were announced by the government of India on Friday. The film also won Best Choreography for the song Megham Karukadha, which was choreographed by Sathish and Jani Master. You can revisit the film on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

Thiruchitrambalam is a 2022 romantic drama directed by filmmaker Mithran Jawahar. The film stars Dhanush and Nithya Menen in the lead role. On Friday, when the 70th National Film Awards were announced, actor Nithya Menen bagged the Best Actress award for her role as Shobhana in the film. In addition to this, Sathish and Jani Master won for their choreography of the song Megham Karukadha.

Dhanush congratulates Nithya Menen

Two-time National Film Award winner and actor Dhanush congratulated Nithya Menen for her first National Film Award win. He posted on X, “Congratulations team thiruchitrambalam. It’s a personal win for me that @MenenNithya as shobana has won the national award. Big congrats to Jaani master and Satish master. It’s a great day for the team.”

Thiruchitrambalam has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, and backed by Sun Pictures. Songs like Megham Karukadha and Thai Kelavi became chartbusters. The film marked the first time Dhanush worked with Nithya Menen.
