Crew- There were many titles that we thought of before..., reveals Rajesh Krishnan| EXCLUSIVE

It will not be wrong to call Rajesh Krishnan as the man of the moment. The reason? Well, he is the man behind the must watch film Crew, which has set afire the box office. Rajesh, who has directed the Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon starrer Crew, was in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay.

Which has been the most memorable moment for you while shooting the film? If you were to ask me, I would love to tell you that the making of the entire film was, in itself, a memorable moment! But, on an individual level, there were those moments of comedy and a lot of chemistry between the three ladies. Those who have seen the film will know that there is a car scene in the film. This, I would call it the toughest part of the film to be shot! But, all thanks to the crew of the Crew, we pulled it off successfully! (smiles).

Amongst the many compliments for the film Crew, which one has been the most unforgettable compliment by whom?
It has to be from my wife, who, apparently, is my worst critic. After seeing the film, she turned around and told me, “Arrey, solid mazaa aaya film dekh kar!”. This, to me, has been and will forever be my most unforgettable compliment.

Your last film Lootcase was an OTT release. On the other hand, your latest film Crew is a theatrical one. What’s the difference you find in the two mediums?
It’s a very loaded question. Its more than the size of the screen! OTT as a platform is something which has opened my eyes to the mega kaleidoscope. Be it the quality of content that you're watching, or any other factor, these platforms are simply amazing. Even the concept of having a ‘series’ also fascinates me a lot.

The OTT platforms have given everyone the creative freedom that the directors or the movie makers were lacking, or were restricted to. In addition to all this, it has also given them the bandwidth of the material.

Your film Crew has managed to do good business despite competition from Hollywood biggie Godzilla x Kong. What do you think are the factor/s which contributed towards the success of the film?
It has to be the star cast! No doubt about that.

There are talks about Crew 2. What’s happening on that front?
I will be the last guy in the world to know about such things. These days, all of us are so tired after having done Crew, all of us are pretty chilling. I will be open to an idea that has to have a strong script.

If you had to simply rename the film, what’s the next best title you would choose other than Crew?
There were many titles that we had thought of before Crew. There was even a The Crew, which ultimately zeroed down on Crew.
