Malayalam actor Arjun Ashokan will be looking to extend his winning run this year with the upcoming political satire Theeppori Benny . The actor, who was part of movies such as Pranaya Vilasam and Romancham, will be playing the protagonist along with Jagadeesh in Theppori Benny, helmed by Raajesh Mohan and Joji Thomas.
The film also has Minnal Murali fame Femina George, Sudheesh and Akhil Vishnu in pivotal roles. Incidentally, the film’s directors Raajesh and Joji had previously worked together in Biju Menon’s Vellimoonga, but as an associate director and scriptwriter, respectively.
When and where to watch Theeppori Benny?
The Malayalam movie is all set to release in theatres on September 22. The film’s OTT rights, we hear, are yet to be sold. The makers are hopeful that the family drama cum political satire will have enough to attract the audience to theatres in a week that would see several small movies releasing in Kerala.
Plot of Theeppori Benny
In a recent interview, Arjun Ashokan said that he plays a representative of today’s youth in the movie, which centres around a father and son, essayed by Jagadeesh and himself, respectively. “It's not an out-and-out comedy, but it has humour. The 'theepori' in the title is the nickname of Jagadeesh chettan's character. When the movie begins, my character is just Benny but the incidents and the journey that make him borrow his father's nickname and make him Theeppori Benny is what the movie is all about,” said Arjun.
Jagadeesh, who has been seen in some good roles post his comeback two years ago, will once again play a different character. The veteran actor, who plays a non-corrupt communist leader in the film, said, “He is someone who doesn't own footwear because he has taken the vow that till the problems faced by everyone around him isn't solved or till their way of living doesn't improve, he won't wear them. He has a unique way of thinking. But this often leads to differences of opinion with his son, who urges him to make money and not keep losing what they have for the sake of other people.”
Theeppori Benny has Sreerag Sasi as its composer and Ajay Francis George as its cinematographer.
