The Witcher prequel animated film announced at The WitcherCon which will trace the origins of Vesemir

At the inaugural WitcherCon, tons of revelations were made including The Witcher season 2 trailer along with a few interactive panels with the cast and crew of the series. The audience also got a look at the new The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf film.

The animated prequel film will follow Vesemir, Geralt of Rivia’s mentor and father figure and Kaer Mohren’s veteran Witcher. The film will trace Vesemir’s origin as a sword buckling Witcher, killing monsters for the coin, escaping a life of poverty. Viewers will get to see him fighting a dangerous power threatening the kingdom in this animated feature film as he grapples with the monsters of his past.
Kim Bodnia of Killing Eve fame will voice Vesemir and also be seen in season two of The Witcher.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher’s showrunner is the executive producer on this project along with Beau de Mayo as producer. Han Kwang II has directed the film with the Korean animation studio, Studio Mir developing the animation for the film. The movie is slated to release on August 23 on Netflix.
